Locked In?!

In my technology class, I was told to answer this question to put on my blog. That’s why it seems so random and out of nowhere. We were allowed to make up situations for this. Anyways, here I go with answering this.

If you had to get locked in some place (book store, amusement park, movie set, recording studio, sports stadium, etc) overnight alone, where would you choose to be locked in?

I, personally, would choose to be locked in the mall. If all the stores were unlocked, I’d have so much fun. I could go to the bookstore and read a lot of the books, especially the mangas and comic books because I love reading things like that. I could probably finish a whole series in the amount of time I was there. Later, I would go to GameStop and find the keys to unlock the game systems so I could play what I wanted, and maybe play some horror games to scare myself for fun. There are a lot of clothes stores that I could go to too and try on stuff. Some stores I would find clothes at are Hot Topic, Aeropostale, and a lot more. If I liked something, I would leave money for them. If I could find the segways the mall cops use and ride around on one, because I think it would be fun. Also I would go into the Mac Store so I can use the computers and other products. If there are any places in the food court that leave their food out at night, I would eat the food, then leave money for them.

My Holiday Break

                                                  My Holiday Break

Hi! In this blog post, I'm going to be talking about my winter break. We had a little over a week off for the holidays. It wasn't all that exciting, but bear with me! For the most part I just sat around and did nothing, but I did do a few things. One thing I did was celebrate Christmas. I got some things like manga, a few clothes like t-shirts, a brand new art kit, and a new iPhone! Surprisingly enough, I forget most of the things I got, but oh well! At least I got things, and I'm happy about that. Another thing I did was go to the movies with my brother and sister. We saw Rise Of The Guardians, which ended up being pretty good. I'd actually go and say it's one of my favorite movies! After that, we walked around a bit in the mall until we got bored and went home. A few days later, we went sledding. Sledding is one of my favorite things to do when there's snow, though I would really like to try skiing or snowboarding one day! Although, for most of the break I played games on the computer like Minecraft and Terraria. Even though I barely did anything, it was a great vacation.

My Experience With Blizzard Nemo

This weekend wasn't exactly the greatest weekend, even if it was three days long. The reason behind this is because there was an alien abduction problem. Hah, no, I'm just kidding, it was just a blizzard, or more specifically, Blizzard Nemo.

We lost power late Friday night, after lots of wind and snow/rain. When I woke up, it was FREEZING in my house. I later learned that it was around 40 degrees inside the house, due to the heat being cut off. We had a generator, but it kept shutting off, so we eventually just gave up and went to my grandmother's house because she had heat and power. My dad didn't come along for some reason, but I guess it was for the better, because we didn't really want to leave the pets home alone. So it was just my brother, sister, mom and I there. Since we didn't want to go back home and sleep in the freezing cold, we just slept over her house.

The next day, after the storm blew over, we decided to go sledding with my little cousins. It actually ended up being really fun, despite the fact that my cousins are BEYOND annoying. When we were done, they invited us to their house to watch a movie, and we went back to our house to change, because trust me, nobody wants to be watching a movie, or doing anything, in wet snowy clothes. Although, when we got home, the power came back on! We also found out the fish died due to the cold, so my sister got all upset about that. I stayed home for the rest of the weekend, not wanting to have to deal with the snow any longer.

This weekend wasn't the greatest, and I found out how much I depend on technology unless I want to be bored.

Podcasting!

Hi there! In tech class, we had to make a podcast with a partner (here's a link to her blog!) We made a podcast about how to get good grades. In it, we talk about de-stressing techniques, how to keep calm and ways to improve studies. Our whole class is making one on various other subjects, such as how to cook things and how to play some sports! We have to edit the audio in class, then I'm pretty sure we get to post it onto iTunes after we're done! Once we post it to iTunes or PodBean, I'll make a post about it here for anyone who's interested. Stay tuned!

Bullying PSA

In our technology class, we had to make a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about bullying and cyberbullying. We had to use photos found online to make a story, simply called a 'photostory'. Mine isn't really that interesting, it's about a girl who had many friends, then they starting ignoring her, and then she made a new one. Though, I think it is like a real situation, because I've heard people's stories online and such that were similar. We made them to inform others of bullying, and what it's like for people. Even if you haven't been bullied, you should know what it's like.

In my ILT class last week, we used a website called Tagxedo to create a word cloud; mine is pictured above. The shape of it is Pikachu from Pokemon. I liked how the website was fairly easy to use and is also easy to navigate and customize your word cloud's colors and shape. The hard part is trying to use a custom image to base your word cloud on, and even then it isn't that hard. You select the arrow next to the 'shape' menu, and click 'add image' on the bottom. After that, you upload the image from your computer, and to make the image clearer, you can adjust the blur and threshold, and there you have it. If I ever had to use a word cloud site again, I would definitely use Tagxedo again, due to its easy-to-use interface and customization options.

9-Alarm Blaze on Beacon Street in Boston Kills 2 Firefighters

A large fire- a 9-alarm blaze -broke out at 298 Beacon Street in Boston, and took the lives of two firefighters and harmed at least 13 others. The fire began at around 2:30pm. The two firemen who lost their lives were Lt. Ed Walsh and Michael Kennedy.

Best Day Ever...?

My idea of the best day ever would be, as ridiculous and kind of embarrassing as it sounds, at Anime Boston.  Laugh all you want, but it's true. To have the full experience, I would first have to find a hotel to stay at for the weekend + Friday. A room is $235 a night, and I'd be there for Friday night and Saturday night, making the cost $470 for the entire stay. The next price would be the tickets to the actual convention. One adult ticket for the weekend costs $60. Now, say I wanted to bring a friend of mine who lives in a different state. I'd buy another adult ticket, which would be another $60. They would have to fly to Boston from where they live, which is Alaska. Their plane ticket would cost $473 altogether. To buy food and maybe some merchandise at the con, we'd each probably bring around $400. Altogether, this best day ever would cost about $1,863. Phew, I'm kind of glad such a day doesn't exist- with me paying for it all, at least. If money wasn't an obstacle, however, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

How much does my best day ever cost?

Using Google Spreadsheets, I calculated the cost of my best day ever. The total came to $1,863. I also made a chart, also using Google Spreadsheets, to be a visual representation of the cost. I now know how to use spreadsheets better than I did before, and I know how to make graphs and charts with it for other classes.

Cocker Spaniels

I made a presentation on Cocker Spaniels to inform people on facts about them. Cocker Spaniels are my favorite breed and I own one, so I thought it would be a good topic to choose. I worked hard on it to make sure it was factual, the information was correct, and that it was enjoyable to watch and/or read, and I hope I succeeded. I've used Prezi before, and my feelings toward using it were that same as last time; it is quick and simple to use, and it makes professional-looking presentations.
